Feeding for windgalls in horses: My experience with nuvallo move Snacks
As a horse owner, you observe your horse very closely every day. A few months ago, I noticed soft swellings on my gelding's fetlock joints. My vet explained to me that these were windgalls. I was very worried at that moment, as I feared an injury. Fortunately, it was nothing acute, but rather a sign that I needed to support his tendons and joints better during training. It was immediately clear to me that I wanted to help him through his feed. The correct feeding for windgalls in horses became my main focus.
The daily frustration with supplements
I did a lot of research into supporting the joints and bought various joint powders. But putting this into practice in the daily stable routine was enormously frustrating. My gelding is extremely fussy. First, I tried mixing the powder into his daily mash. He ate a few bites and then simply left the rest of the feed trough untouched. After that, I tried hiding the powder in a hollowed-out apple. He ate part of the apple, but sorted out the powder as best he could. Every day, I found expensive powder residues at the bottom of his manger. Logically, if a horse doesn't eat the supplements, they can't work.
My discovery: nuvallo move Snacks
After weeks of trying different things, I stumbled across a completely different solution by chance: nuvallo move. The concept sounded absolutely logical to me. It is a functional joint snack specifically developed to support tendons and joints, without you having to handle dusty powder.
Simple daily feeding
The best thing about nuvallo move Snacks is the uncomplicated handling. For my 500 kg horse, I need exactly 6 Snacks daily, which I can simply feed directly from the hand. No weighing, no mixing. They seem to taste excellent to him. This is down to the stomach-friendly carriers, which consist of linseed cake, rice bran, and linseed. It was also important to me that the Snacks are free from wheat and corn, added sugar, and cheap fillers.
The active ingredients per daily ration (6 Snacks) also convinced me immediately:
- Glucosamine (1,500 mg): An important building block for cartilage development that supports natural shock absorption.
- Collagen (2,550 mg): A structural protein for the elasticity and stability of connective tissue and cartilage.
- MSM (2,250 mg): Organic sulphur, which is essential for the regeneration of tendons and ligaments.
- Hyaluronic acid (150 mg): The main component of synovial fluid.
Because I wanted to directly cover my gelding's nutritional needs due to the windgalls, I fed double the amount for the first three weeks and then switched to the normal daily ration.
My experience after 8 weeks
nuvallo recommends feeding the Snacks consistently for at least 8 to 12 weeks, though the first positive changes can often be seen after 4 to 6 weeks. Now, after a good two months, I am very happy with our progress. I feel that my horse comes out of the stable less stiff in the mornings and moves more smoothly overall. We have noticed that he moves with noticeably more joy when being ridden and simply seems more relaxed.
Another important point for everyone who competes: nuvallo move is manufactured in Europe and is completely ADMR-compliant. So, you don't have to observe any withdrawal periods, which is enormously important to me for our planned starts this season.
My conclusion on feeding for windgalls in horses
If you are thinking about feeding for windgalls in horses and have a fussy animal in the stable, I can highly recommend nuvallo move Snacks. It is an enormous relief not having to scrape powder residue out of the feed trough every day anymore. My horse now gets his joint support completely stress-free, directly from the hand.
